Bratislava and Devin Castle Tour - Itinerary


There are two ways to join your Bratislava and Devin Castle Tour. You can arrange to be collected from your hotel in Bratislava, or from the train station. Alternatively, make your way on foot to the front of the Opera House/ Slovak National Theatre on Hviezoslavovo Square, opposite the Carlton Hotel.

With your English-speaking driver/guide, you will set off in an air-conditioned minivan on a 1-hour driving tour of parts of Bratislava's center outside the pedestrianized Old Town. Trace the city's checkered history in its buildings – Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and modern architecture cheek by jowl with monumental structures from the communist era.

Important landmarks include St. Martin’s Cathedral. Formerly the coronation church of the Kingdom of Hungary, this is the largest and handsomest, as well as one of the oldest churches in Bratislava.

Very different is St Elizabeth's Church (Blue Church), an Art Nouveau masterpiece that looks as if it is made out of blue and white icing.

Other highlights include the New Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge over the Danube, and the 18th century Presidential Palace.

You will stop for a short walk at Bratislava Castle, a huge hilltop fortress affording magnificent city views.

More panoramic views are available from Napoleon’s Hill and from Slavin. Situated in a beautiful park, Slavin is both a cemetery and a memorial to Soviet Army soldiers who fell during World War II while liberating Bratislava from the Nazis.

Leaving the town, you will take a delightful riverside drive to magnificent Devin Castle, a set of imposing ruins commanding the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers. (Between December - April, visit to Devin Castle is not included.)

You will have an hour to absorb the romantic atmosphere of this vast cliff top citadel. Learn how the castle fared in the ebb and flow of European history and why Napoleon destroyed it.

After exploring Devin you will board your minivan for the return. In Bratislava, you will be dropped at the meeting point in front of the Opera House/ Slovak National Theatre on Hviezoslavovo Square.

If your tour status is On Request we will not charge your card until we have been able to confirm your booking with our supplier.  If your tour status is bookable online, your card will be charged when you click confirm and pay.Please note that you don't have to pay anything at the destination.
What happens after you book
Please print the electronic voucher sent to you and give them to the operator on the day of the activity.
