Gardens and Ramparts Tour in Marrakech - Aperçu

Experience the timeless aspect of Moroccan life as you visit its legendary gardens and the impressive ramparts of Marrakech. The ramparts dominate this medieval city with their characteristic red stone walls and superb nine gates.

Visit the tropical Majorelle Gardens, with their fountains, pools and lush bamboo groves built by the French painter Majorelle. The cobalt blue buildings are its hallmark while more than 15 exclusive North African bird species can be found in this garden.

Enjoy a leisurely ride in a barouche or a calash – a four-wheeled carriage - under the shadow of the olive trees around the Agdal Garden fountains, the oldest garden in Marrakech. See the serene landscape mirrored in the reflection pool at the beautiful Menara Gardens.

0830h (08:30am)/1430h (02:30pm): You will be picked up from your centrally located hotel in Marrakech for this Gardens and Ramparts tour in Marrakech. Hotel pick-up is not possible at Riads in the Medina. If your hotel is not a pick-up location, please assemble at the central starting point at Holidays Services Agency in Marrakech, Complex Kawkab Center, Rue Imam Chafaï, Jnan El Harti, Guéliz.

Depart by bus to the meeting point for the departure by barouches. Board a barouche, a four-wheeled carriage, and set out with your bilingual guide (English and French-speaking) for this sightseeing tour.

Head towards the Agdal Gardens. The 12th century Agdal Gardens, stretching south of the médina, include several pools, and olive, orange and pomegranate orchards.

From the Agdal Gardens ride towards the Menara Gardens. Made up primarily of olive groves, a rectangular pool stands at the centre of the groves, reflecting the stunning Atlas Mountains in the background.

Reboard your air-conditioned bus and head back towards the ramparts and view one of the most famous gates, the Bab Khemis. With an impressive length of more than 10 km, the city ramparts are among the main attractions of Marrakech. Well-preserved with a height ranging from 8 to 10 meters, ten gates pierce the wall as entry points. Several of these have been the model for other Moroccan cities as well.

Stop and explore the exquisite Majorelle Gardens. This superb tropical garden with fountains, pools, a forest of bamboos and cactus, also houses a fabulous private museum collection. This garden was laid out by a French artist, Louis Majorelle, and was later restored and bought by Yves Saint Laurent. Bright cobalt blue buildings dot this amazing garden

12 noon/1800h (06:00pm): Your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel or the closest drop-off point in Marrakech.
