Private Morning Rome Photography Tour - Itinerary

The tour starts from the Colosseum (at the Kiosk newsstand outside of the metro entrance, across the street from the Colosseum) at 0800h (8:00am). Since there is no hotel pick-up, you have to make your own arrangements to reach this place.

You'll learn to use perspective to your advantage and play with light and shadow. You'll also get tips on how to use colour, contrast, and detail to create captivating images. Watch the early morning light give way to the brilliance of the noonday sun.

The highlights include :

Colosseum: The Colosseum is one of the most famous monuments of ancient Rome. Inaugurated in 80 A.D., it was built as a giant stage for gladiator fights.

Roman Forum: No tour of Rome is complete without a visit to the ruins of the Roman Forum which extend from the Colosseum to the Capitol. The Forum is an open air museum exhibiting ancient ruins, including temples, arches, columns and numerous historic buildings.

Campidoglio: The Capitoline Hill or Campidoglio is the smallest of Rome's seven hills, but it was the religious and political centre of the city since its foundation more than 2500 years ago.

Teatro Marcello: The Theatre of Marcellus was built by Emperor Augustus in 13 BC. It was the largest theatre in ancient Rome. It was once lavishly decorated with Greek sculptures and supported by some 300 columns.

Piazza Mattei and the Fountain of Turtles: The Piazza Mattei is a typical square with the beautiful Fountain of the Turtles by Giacomo della Porta at its centre. The square is framed by Giacomo Mattei palace of the 1400s and Costaguti palace of the 1500s. This is one of the most splendid of Rome’s fountains and is located in the Piazza Mattei.

Pantheon: Located in the centre of modern Rome, the Pantheon is a well preserved example of the ingenuity of ancient Roman architecture. The building is circular with a diameter of 142 feet and has a dome which follows the contours of a perfect sphere.

At the end of the session your photographer-guide will review some of the photos taken. You will have learnt the basics of composition, the importance of light in photography, how to take balanced and attractive images, and simple techniques to take "creative" images.

The tour ends at the Pantheon.
