Overview
Set out on an open-bus excursion around Cork and explore important tourist landmarks, including the mysterious Blarney Stone. Kiss the Blarney Stone perched at the top of a 15th century castle to gain the gift of the gab! St Anne’s Church, better known for its bells than its architecture, is immortalised in the famous song ‘The Bells of Shandon’ by Francis Sylvester Mahony. Wander around this unique church to see a massive tower, two sides of which are constructed in sandstone and the other two in limestone.
On this excursion, learn the poignant history of prisoners at the Cork City Gaol in the 19th century. Visit the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery and look out for Sean Keating’s ‘Men of the South’, a fine piece of historical romanticism, depicting members of the North Cork Batallion.

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Cork and make your way to your hotel. The 4* Jurys Doyle Hotel located on the banks of the River Lee close to the Cork city centre. The hotel has a contemporary restaurant, lounge and a bar, swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room and all modern amenities.
Once you are settled in the rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 2
In the morning, set out on an open-top bus tour from the Bus Station, Parnell Place or from the city library, Grand Parade, opposite the Tourist Office. Visit the top tourist attractions of Cork City. The bus will stop at the city’s major landmarks.
The Cork City Gaol is a castle like prison that once housed 19th century prisoners. The cells contain life-sized figures of prisoners and guards. A spectacular sound and image presentation at the prison tells the social history and contrasting lifestyles of 19th Century Cork.
The Crawford Municipal Art Gallery houses a small but impressive collection of works by Irish artists like Jack Yeats and Sean Keating.
St Finbarre’s Cathedral is an imposing Protestant cathedral in Cork with French Gothic architecture. Among its most striking features are the fine rose windows, the Mosaic pavements and elaborate carvings.
St Anne’s Church in Shandon is nestled on a hillside overlooking the river Lee. The Pepper Pot Top of the steeple is unusual in that two sides of the tower are built of limestone and the other two are sandstone.
The Lough on the outskirts of Cork city is a noted centre for wildlife, especially Canada geese, swans and a variety of other birds.
The tour will also take you to the beautiful Blarney Village and visit the 15th century Blarney Castle. Take the steep spiral staircase to the top and bend over backwards to kiss the Blarney Stone, believed to grant the gift of the gab.
Return to your hotel for the night.
