Adventure Cruise in the Galapagos Islands
-
Overview
Situated in the Pacific Ocean, at the confluence of three ocean currents and some 1,000 km from the South American continent, the Galapagos Islands are made up of 19 islands, of which only five are inhabited. These islands and the surrounding marine reserve have been called a unique ‘living museum and showcase of evolution’.
A gamut of activities from snorkeling to trekking and wildlife galore await you at the Galapagos Islands, which are blessed with pleasant weather all year round.
Begin your island adventure on board the Yacht Coral. This spacious motor yacht is beautifully designed, with its entire interior made of teak wood and is fully carpeted. Each cabin has its own full private bath and is handsomely decorated with wooden fixtures.
Walk amongst giant tortoises or trek through lava tunnels at Santa Cruz island. See the magnificent blowhole, shooting water 75 feet in the air! Snorkel or swim off the shores of Gardner Bay. The green sand beaches of Floreana Island are set in dramatic contrast to the hordes of pink flamingoes.
Cruise around the Galapagos Islands and enjoy a truly beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Quito
Upon arrival at the Mariscal Sucre Airport in Quito, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can set out on an excursion in Quito (own expenses).
Overnight at a first-class hotel in Quito.
Day 2: Quito – Galapagos Islands
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up and taken to the Mariscal Sucre airport in Quito to catch your onward flight to Galapagos at 0815h (08:15am.) The flight from Quito to Baltra airport in Galapagos takes approximately 2 1/2 hours.
Arrive at 1000h (10:00am.) in Baltra airport. You will be greeted by guides at the airport and transferred to the Itabaca canal where you will board the My Coral. Cross to the Island of Santa Cruz and travel to Puerto Ayora.
Santa Cruz (Highlands): One of the options is to cross the highlands of Santa Cruz. Passengers will visit Cerro Chato. In this visit, you’ll be able to observe the famous giant tortoises that gave the name to these islands. Additionally, travelers can literally get into the Galapagos by walking in the dormant lava tubes.
Your stay on My Coral includes all meals on the cruise from dinner on first day of the cruise to breakfast on the last day of the cruise.
Day 3: Suarez Point
Morning: Española (Suarez Point)
Enjoy a dry landing at Suarez Point. Upon landing, you will learn more about the lava terrain while crossing the inactive lava fields. Aside from the sea lion colonies, this is one of the most important sites for bird watching. As soon as you step on this island many species can be spotted and observed closely. Among the many species, the hooded mocking bird and red billed tropic. After crossing the nesting grounds, you will reach the world’s largest colony of waved albatross (approximately 15 000 in number). From May until December their mating rituals are a highlight of the visit. Nearing the end of this excursion, you will visit the famous blowhole, where water shoots into the air at almost 23 mts. (75 ft.).
Afternoon: Española (Gardner Bay)
In the afternoon, visit Gardner Bay. Enjoy a wet landing on a white coral beach amidst a large colony of sea lions. This site has no trails, therefore hiking, is not possible. But it is considered as an open area where you can spot Galapagos hawks, American oyster catchers, Galapagos doves, and hood mockingbirds, three species of Darwin finches and yellow warblers, lava lizards, marine iguanas. All of these species are endemic to this island. This is a great place for swimming and snorkeling. The best place for this spot is by the rock outcropping that looks like a turtle. Often snorkelers see many of the Galapagos marine species such as: king angelfish, Creole fish, damsel fish, parrot fish, manta rays, white tipped reef sharks, and many more. Enjoy this snorkeling in a Galapagos aquarium.
Return to your ship.
Day 4: Floreana
Floreana (Cormorant Point):
There will be a wet landing on a greenish-coloured sand beach. Set out on a hike on a well-marked trail beginning in the Black Mangrove beds, heading towards the back of the lagoon. The large, brackish lagoon holds one of the biggest populations of flamingos in the Galapagos. This island is best known for its endemic plant life, such as: the Galapagos millwork, passion flower, and unique button mangrove (one of the four species in Galapagos). Novice snorkelers can practice back on the main beach where the sea lions are playful, while experienced snorkelers can roam the waters around Devils Crown.
Floreana (Post office):
Located on the north side of Floreana Island, the bay is so-named because in 1793, Captain James Colnett installed an empty barrel of rum which works as an informal post box for the sailors who periodically passed through the Galapagos, taking with them letters for their next ports of call or final destinations. You can continue the tradition by placing postcards without stamps inside the barrel which will reach your destinations free of charge!
A short walk from the famous barrel, across typical vegetation of the island, arrive at tunnel formed by lava flows. It’s quite a tricky way down to a path where you can observe land birds such as mocking bird of Galapagos, some species of Darwin’s finches, yellow warblers and lava lizards.
Floreana (Mirador de la Baronesa):
After a wet landing on “Mirador de la Baronesa”, your nature guide will recount the murder and mystery legend of the Baronesa. This viewpoint is located on the north of the Floreana Island. It is a tuff basalt formation between Cormorant Point and Post Office bay. The climb on the trails is very easy. Steps are placed in this area for security.
Return to your ship.
Day 5: North Seymour – Quito
North Seymour:
After a dry landing, you will encounter swallow-tailed gulls and sea lions. This site is also known for being a major nesting colony of blue footed boobies and the largest colony of the magnificent frigate bird, (a different species from the great frigate bird). You will also spot both endemic species of iguanas, the marine iguanas and land iguanas. Enjoy this relaxed hike around the nesting sites.
Disembark at the Baltra docks. You will then be transferred to a bus that will take you to the Baltra airport in Galapagos for your flight back to mainland via Guayaquil to Quito.
After your arrival at the Quito airport, you will be met and assisted by a representative in Quito and be transferred from the airport to your hotel. (Departure from Quito or Guayaquil to Baltra airport in Galapagos takes approx. 2 1/2 hours.)
Overnight in Quito at a first class hotel.
Day 6: Depart Quito
After breakfast at your hotel in Quito, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the airport to catch your international departure flight.
