You will drive through the Boyne Valley where the Battle of Boyne took place and visit Monasterboice to see the famous high crosses.
However the highlight of the day is a visit to the famous Newgrange Tombs. This magnificent UNESCO World heritage site is dated 3,200BC and is one of the oldest and largest Neolithic burial chambers in Europe, predating the Egyptian pyramids! As part of your tour, you will be taken on a guided tour of the actual tombs of Newgrange.

Itinerary
This tour starts from Gray Line Desk 1, Dublin Tourism, Suffolk Street. Accompanied by a guide and travelling in a coach, you will proceed to the Newgrange Tombs, built around 3200 BC by the Neolithic people of Ireland.
Among the oldest and largest Neolithic burial chambers in Europe, the Newgrange Tombs are believed to be older than the pyramids of Egypt. An entrance on the south-eastern side opens up a 62 foot long passageway that leads to a high central chamber and three side chambers. The tomb was discovered in 1699 and was excavated and restored between 1962 and 1975. For two weeks in mid-winter, sunlight streams in through a roof box located above the entrance passage and lights up the dark chambers.
Proceed to Monasterboice which houses some of the finest examples of Ireland's High Crosses and one of the best preserved Round Towers in the country. The crosses can go upto 6.5 metres tall.
After the tour, return to Dublin. The tour ends at the original point of departure.
